The University of Pennsylvania’s CLO Program is designed to offer a unique educational experience for professionals who are passionate about creating value at the intersection of learning and business. Learning officers are now leaders in their organizations, and the need for learning leaders exists across all corporations, universities, cultural facilities, hospitals, government agencies, foundations and other major institutions. The rigorous PennCLO Program prepares learning leaders—chief learning officers, vice presidents of human resources, training directors—and high-potential professionals aspiring to those positions to gain the expertise needed to develop a culture of learning within their organizations. PennCLO is the only program of its kind among top-tier universities. Established in 2006 at the urging of an advisory board of industry leaders, it operates under the leadership of Penn’s Graduate School of Education (GSE) and with co-sponsorship by its business school. PennCLO brings in faculty from across the entire University and draws on Penn’s rich history of innovation, research and practical application dating back to Benjamin Franklin, the school’s founder.
