Penman has been trading since 1859, evolving from a family coachbuilding business to become part of a UK PLC and more recently returning to private ownership. Now trading as Penman Engineering, we design, manufacture, integrate and support a range of specialist vehicles, both armoured and non-armoured, for UK and overseas military, diplomatic and commercial customers,. We operate from a secure site in southern Scotland, incorporating 130,000 sq ft of flexible workshop/production space combined with extensive secure vehicle holding areas. There are currently circa 100 employees across a range of disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic and Sofrware Design and Development, Project Management and Integrated Logistic Support. We are fully certified to ISO 9001:2008 encompassing all of our key activities. Our armoured vehicles include: saloon cars, SUVs, specialist trucks and trailers, construction and mine clearing equipment. Our non-armoured vehicles range from: Rapid Intervention Fire Vehicles (RIV), Land Rover conversions, specialist Command and Control Vehicles, mobile training and communications units, and specialist logistics vehicles. Penman Engineering has developed considerable expertise in the design and manufacture of the following range of vehicles: CASH-IN-TRANSIT: ballistic and protected vehicles with totally integrated solutions comprising hardware and operating software. EOD VEHICLES: complex vehicles for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) and Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) user community. MILITARY TRAILERS: a range of robust, light and medium-weight trailers for use in harsh environments worldwide. Penman products are in service with government and commercial customers worldwide, and we provide a full support service, including field service engineers, spares supply, technical publications and training. We can also offer complete fleet refurbishment and reconfiguration.
