Peninsula School Information

Founded in 1925, Peninsula School is an independent, coeducational day school serving children from preschool through eighth grade on 6.5 wooded acres in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our progressive, child-centered program is built on the belief that children learn best when they are known well, actively involved in their learning, and given room to explore their interests. Small student-to-teacher ratios allow teachers to understand each child’s strengths and needs—and to offer the right balance of support, challenge, freedom, and responsibility. Learning at Peninsula is active and meaningful. Students investigate questions, discuss ideas, solve problems, write, build, create, collaborate, and reflect. Academics are woven together with play, choice, time outdoors, and strong relationships. Our campus extends the classroom, giving children space to move, imagine, take thoughtful risks, and learn from the world around them. Beginning in the early grades, students take part in our Activities Program, choosing from art, science, clay, woodshop, weaving, music, physical education, and library. Classroom meetings give students a voice, while mixed-age experiences, school jobs, field trips, and Middle School camping build independence, confidence, flexibility, and care for others. Peninsula is a diverse and inclusive community grounded in six core values: authentic interactions, community, equity, freedom and responsibility, meaningful academics, and play. Families and educators work together to create a place where children feel they belong and are encouraged to become fully themselves.
