Pelagius Information

Pelagius has been established by David Clouston in 2017 to provide practical help in understanding and managing catastrophe risk in the insurance sector and more widely. There are three strands to Pelagius. The first is a consulting service to re/insurers across all aspects of catastrophe risk, including exposure-management, data-quality, cat modelling, reporting, international regulation and the Society of Lloyd's. The second is providing pro bono services to firms, institutions or projects that aim to further the understanding of catastrophe risk. The third is coaching, mentoring and career development. David's professional background of nearly forty years includes underwriting, broking, reinsurance, IT systems, ERM and regulation. Since 2005 he has specialised in understanding and managing catastrophe-risk, including at Insurance Australia Group and Willis Analytics. Most recently he served six and half years as Deputy Head and then Head of Risk Aggregation at Lloyd's of London.
