About 20 percent of all teens experience depression before they reach adulthood. Every 100 minutes a teen takes their own life, making suicide the second leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds. Peer Responders is an online mentoring and certification program for teens that trains students through mental health professional mentorships to respond to peer crises—in and out of school. We are starting a movement of kind and informed training for student leaders across the country. Through Peer Responders, instead of freezing up when someone confides in their friend for help—hesitant of what to say, how to act, and who to recommend as a safe source of counsel—a friend can respond to the problem in a healthy and constructive manner, thanks to the tools he or she learns from us. Through titans in their industries, we have mentor speakers including Chris Voss (ex-FBI hostage negotiator, author, CEO), Dr. BJ Fogg (Stanford professor/researcher, CEO), Andre Norman (ex-convict turned Harvard fellow), and more! We are proud to announce 41 chapters across the US, over 5,000+ high school students trained, a Diana Award, a PsychologyToday feature, and a People Magazine mention.
