På Kviknes Hotel strekkjer gjestgjevar-tradisjonane seg tilbake til 1752. Familien Kvikne som i dag eig hotellet, overtok i 1877. Hotellet vart reist i sveitserstil, og har beholdt sitt særpreg sjølv etter fleire ombyggingar og utvidingar. Kviknes er eit moderne hotell med sjel og atmosfære, og er med sine 190 rom eitt av dei største turisthotella i Noreg. Hotellet har samla ei mengde kunstverk og klenodium som pregar hotellet og gjev det sin spesielle stil.
Hotellet ligg idyllisk til ved Sognefjorden i nasjonalromantiske omgjevnadar. Lista over prominente gjester ved Kviknes Hotell er svært lang. Keisar Wilhelm II av Tyskland var ofte gjest i Balestrand. I tillegg er kongelege, keisarar, presidentar, statsministrar, filmstjerner og kunstnarar frå mange land å finne på gjestelista.
