PBPSA – Polybutene Piping Systems Association The Polybutene Piping Systems Association (PBPSA) is an international association of market leading companies committed to the use of the thermoplastic material, Polybutene-1 (PB-1) for the manufacture of piping systems used in pressurised heating, cooling and plumbing installations. Also known as Polybutylene, PB-1 is used worldwide in plumbing and piping systems applications including large-scale building and infrastructure projects, district energy networks, heating and cooling, and plumbing installations. Our members, all global leaders in their market segments, consider PB-1 to be the technically preferred material providing many advantages over competitive and more traditional materials. This confidence has been well proven over long-term use under continuous pressure in hot and cold water installations in sometimes hostile environments. PB-1 piping systems – today's technology Continuous advances in both material technology and production processes, combined with stringent EU and International standards, have further raised the performance and reliability of Polybutene-1 piping systems. Rigid systems, with their problems of making watertight joints in confined spaces are rapidly being superceded by more plumber-friendly flexible systems such as PB-1, enabling easy prefabrication, efficient logistics and onsite handling, and faster installation – particularly in confined spaces. Our members have all been manufacturing extensive product ranges with PB-1 for considerable periods and stake their reputations on its quality and suitability for latest technology industrial, commercial and domestic piping systems which are efficient and problem-free over extended periods of service life.
