I believe everyone can achieve a healthier lifestyle through different thinking patterns and behavior patterns. The common thread throughout my career is the understanding that everyone experiences pain in life. How we cope with these experiences, either through healthy or unhealthy coping skills, will determine our thought patterns. These thought patterns lead to self-beliefs. Then the self-beliefs can become the person’s identity, whether they can acknowledge it or not. I walk along side my clients and help them achieve positive thought patterns and self-beliefs. I believe that no one is beyond changing their patterns and a healthier and happier life is achievable with everyone. My main theoretical orientation is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Through EMDR, I specialize in sports performance enhancement, weight loss, abuse victims, grief, depression, anxiety, hoarding, and interpersonal relationships. EMDR is a powerful therapeutic technique that helps athletes who have the physical skills but may be struggling emotionally with performance anxiety, self-esteem, and a variety of emotional barriers keeping individuals from attaining their maximum potential. EMDR is equally powerful with anxiety and depression. The more I have used EMDR, I’ve discovered that people who suffer from weight issues can lose weight, without exercise or diet, by working the body’s self defense mechanisms. Another specialty that I studied extensively is sex offender specific therapy. I am on the SOMB provider list of Illinois. This means that I have been trained and supervised for the amount required to successfully treat victims of sex offense and sex offenders. My national certification in EMDR and my placement on the state of Illinois SOMB providers list sets me apart from most therapists as far as providing a wide range of therapeutic skills.
