In nearly four years as a staff attorney for the Arkansas Supreme Court, Matt Campbell reviewed the briefs, abstracts, addenda, and other materials in hundreds of appeals. In this position, Matt did not work for a specific Supreme Court Justice; rather, he wrote for - and received feedback from - eleven Justices, including all seven current members of the court. This experience gives Matt unique insight into which arguments on appeal are more likely to persuade the court, and it helps him avoid cluttering a brief with arguments that have no chance of success. Matt's experience in legal research and writing goes back further than his time with the Supreme Court, however. He previously served as a contributing editor to two legal publications, researching recent decisions in bankruptcy and products liability from around the country and writing case summaries for periodicals read by attorneys across the country. Additionally, while in law school, he was selected as a special researcher for the Special Court for Sierra Leone, drafting a memorandum used in the prosecution of former Liberian dictator Charles Taylor, and he was a research assistant for two professors.
