Pathankot Information

Pathankot is a city of Punjab whose one side is Pakistan and just behind it is hill area that makes it a bottle like to maintain the entire valley. Pathankot officially declared as district of Punjab state on 27 July 2011. Before declared as a district it was a tehsil of Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India. Total area covering approx 929 sq. Km. Pathankot is at the meeting point of the three states of India - Punjab, himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Pathankot is a city which shares international border with Pakistan on its west. Pathankot serves as a travel hub for those three northerly states. Pathankot is the 9th most populous city of Punjab. Situated in the pictorial foothills of Kangra and Dalhousie , with river Chakki flowing next door , the city act as a rest stop before heading to the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir , Dalhousie , Chamba , Kangra , Mcleodganj , Chintpurni , Dharamshala , Jawalaji . Pathankot is also a education hub for the nearby areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh . Students basically come from rural areas of these states to study here. Pathankot is surrounded by the river Ravi and Chakki.
