Path to Independence is an inclusive, two-year, non-degree certificate program housed within the University of Nevada, Reno College of Education & Human Development. The program provides students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in a meaningful college experience focused on academics, employment, independent living, and social inclusion. P2I is proud to be a residential program and to partner closely with UNR Residential Life and campus residence halls to support students in building greater independence and connection within the university community. The program also works collaboratively with community and agency partners, including Sierra and Rural Regional Center, the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Lyon County School District, and Washoe County School District, to help students access individualized supports and services throughout their college experience.
