PatchLab’s cofounders have been building drug delivery formulations together for the last half decade across multiple San Diego startups. They built PatchLab to solve a problem they kept running into: early-stage teams have a promising active and a plausible vehicle, but no quantitative evidence that anything actually crosses the barrier. Helping teams better estimate their actual bioavailability. Large CROs are built for late-stage validation, slow cycles, high minimums, and pricing that assumes you already all the details. That’s the wrong tool when you’re still building and iterating. So we built the lab for the stage before that. We run automated high throughput ex vivo permeation studies across skin, synthetic membranes, buccal and nasal mucosa. We also develop HPLC methods for actives that don’t have one, and build and iterate research prototypes, closing the loop between testing and reformulation fast enough to matter. Our clients arrive at data behind their decisions instead of assumptions. You own what we build for you but where deeper collaboration makes sense, we do that too.
