University of Cyprus aims to establish itself as a Pioneer Research Institution achieving International Scientific Recognition in European Higher Education, offering Competitive Programmes and to become a Centre of Excellence in the wider Euro - Mediterranean Region. The main objectives of the University are twofold: the promotion of scholarship and education through teaching and research, and the enhancement of the cultural, social and economic development of Cyprus. In this context, the University believes that education must provide more than simply accumulation of knowledge. It must also encourage students' active participation in the process of learning and acquisition of those values necessary for responsible involvement in the community. The University sets high standards for all branches of scholarship. Research is promoted and funded in all departments for its contribution to scholarship in general and for its local and international applications.

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is the largest university in Cyprus, with more than 11,500 students from over 100 countries, offering more than 100 study programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. It consists of eight Schools: Medicine, Life and Health Sciences, Law, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, and Sciences and Engineering, and it is internationally recognized for its research work and the quality of its teaching. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, it is ranked among the top 501-600 universities worldwide. UNIC maintains an extensive network of collaborations with leading universities and research centres around the world and, as part of its internationalization, it has expanded its presence in Greece with the establishment of UNIC Athens, which began operating in 2025 with its base in Elliniko.

The Objectives and Principles Our aim is to take EMU further ahead as the leading academic institution in the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Mediterranean. The objectives and principles of EMU while proceeding in this direction are as follows: 1. To train the students in becoming honest, innovative and professionally responsible individuals with distinct personalities who are capable of critical thinking and able to contribute to the society on scientific matters. 2.
