Parents Information

Parents by Choice was founded in 2006 to provide children in California's foster care system with a loving family environment and the services they deserve. Since this time, our staff of experienced social workers, along with our foster parents and volunteers have worked diligently to make this dream a reality. As a licensed Foster Family Agency, we currently provide foster homes in California's East Bay, Central Valley and Foothills. This has only been possible through the sacrificial service of our foster parents, and the support of our friends and neighbors. Always striving to improve ourselves, we sought to use technology to ensure the highest delivery of our programs and services. When we invested in Kaleidacare's child and family services software in 2008, we were the first California agency to do so. Dozens of other agencies have now followed suit. Also, since we are interested in quality, we were interested in membership in the California Alliance of Child and Family Services. The 130 statewide member organizations of the California Alliance share a commitment to excellence and strive to improve the quality of care and services provided to at-risk children and families. Our accreditation work took over one year, but was accomplished in February 2010. Today, Parents by Choice continues to grow in services to children and families. Our staff has been trained to use evidence-based practices with our kids and families. Some of these practices include the "Why Try? curriculum (www.whytry.org) and "Triple P" (www.triple-p.net). Along with our foster care program, we now offer the "Positive Parenting Program," a community-based service that is provided in partnership with San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services. Through this free program, families learn skills designed to reduce stress and build stability in their homes. We pride ourselves in doing unusual things to enhance the lives of our kids: yearly camping and snow trips, as well as extreme sports outings for our teenagers. We dream big, because ...
