Il Dipartimento di Informatica dell'Università di Torino è stato fondato nel 1984 da una trasformazione del precedente Istituto di Scienze dell'Informazione, fondato nel 1971. Il dipartimento ospita tutti i ricercatori dell'Università di Torino attivi nel campo dell'Informatica ed è il principale rifrimento per quanto riguarda il curriculum in Informatica offerto dalla Scuola di Scienze della Natura. Il Dipartimento partecipa anche a diverse Scuole di Dottorato. Il Dipartimento di Informatica si trova nel Centro "Piero della Francesca" e include uffici sale riunioni, una biblioteca e diversi laboratori.
