Every one of us has the potential to be an extraordinary leader. We each need to become aware of who we are: our strengths and blind spots, our capacity to change and grow, our beliefs, our values, and our perspective. We must also understand our organizations strategy, process, structure, systems, culture, and results and the environment in which we operate. With this knowledge, we can become more effective as leaders and as people. At Parallel Minds, we approach every engagement as an opportunity to cultivate this inherent leadership potential for the benefit of organizations and the people within them. I started my career in a bank management training program, a proving ground for gaining a broad perspective, learning business process, and navigating cross-functional relationships; the beginning of my development as a leader. I matriculated into a skunkworks in HR, serving as a management consultant across the bank. That led to further HR roles in other large companies, all of which exposed me to the inner workings of organizations and, ultimately, to the rigors of professional consulting. At Cambridge Technology Partners, I made the formal leap to Organizational Development and served both internal and external clients. When I formed Parallel Minds in 1997, I was an amalgam of practical business sense and holistic leader development. I knew how to listen, how to guide, how to facilitate, how to communicate, how to effect change, and how to develop leadership potential. Since its founding, Parallel Minds has evolved as I have evolved. I now know what Im here to do: coach for the whole leader job. That is, grow leader self-awareness, mindset, and skillset andimpact the real work of leadership every day the planning and strategizing and problem solving that must happen in order to move the organization forward.
