Four generations ago, in the late 1800s, a Scottish chemist named James Young invented the process to extract Paraffin from shale. Paraffin was the first safe, affordable fuel that people could use to light their lives. Before paraffin, light after dark was a luxury reserved for the rich. But with paraffin came light, and with light people could read, work, socialise and be safe. Paraffin extended the day, fuelling people's lives by creating light. Founder, Pam Hamilton is James Young's great-great-great-great-granddaughter.
