Papyrus has a patented conversion technology which converts banana trunk waste into fibre based products and will license this to appropriate partners around the globe. Papyrus Australia’s mission is to displace plastic and forest-sourced products. We do this through the development and implementation of technology that creates reusable products from agriwaste. Seeking a sustainable, eco-friendly response to growing environmental uncertainty, we have developed a world-first technology which takes waste banana trunk and converts it into alternatives to fibrous bioplastics. To directly address the negative impacts of deforestation and plastic in our waterways and environment, our long-term vision is to license our technology to suitable entities that will establish banana veneer and banana fibre production factories in locations where bananas are grown. Our world-first technology promotes a circular economy, whereby it creates a valuable product from waste materials that would otherwise negatively contribute to climate change and our deteriorating environment.
