Paperclip was established in 1992 as a small stationery store, providing office supplies to office buildings in the Sudirman business district, such as Bursa Efek Jakarta and Mid Plaza. In parallel with the development of the significant growth and lifestyle of Indonesian shopping centres, Paperclip opened more stores in leading shopping centres in Jakarta, and eventually outside of Jakarta, such as in Medan, Surabaya and Pekanbaru. The initial concept for Paperclip was for it to be a specialty store providing a range of stationery supplies to cater to the needs of customers. It was inspired by stationery stores overseas, where such specialty stationery stores were commonplace and could be found anywhere. However, to cope with the ever-increasing demand, Paperclip strives to fulfill customers’ needs by continuously supplying a wider and more complete product range, such as reading books (novels, comics, etc.), IT accessorial products (peripherals), art supplies and handicrafts.
