Dreams Come True of Jacksonville is the First Coast’s only locally based nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Since 1984, Dreams Come True has delivered more than 4,000 transformative dream experiences for children throughout the First Coast. These experiences—ranging from swimming with dolphins and meeting celebrities to traveling to destinations like Hawaii—offer moments of joy, hope, and inspiration during some of the most challenging times in a child’s life. Dreams provided by Dreams Come True give children and their families a meaningful reprieve from the physical and emotional demands of medical treatment. By creating powerful, positive memories, we help restore a sense of childhood, strengthen family resilience, and reinforce the belief in brighter days ahead. At Dreams Come True, we believe every child deserves hope, joy, and the chance to dream.

Research has shown that starting early and engaging parents in their child’s education is positively associated with a child’s academic, social and emotional well-being. That is why Family Connections has evolved into a family learning community in which underserved children and parents attend programs together, learn together and grow together, from birth into Kindergarten and beyond. Our programs and services are free so that all underserved families in our community, regardless of their circumstances, can participate. Our parent participation preschools provide enriching early learning experiences for birth-to-five year olds, resulting in children who arrive at kindergarten academically and socially ready to learn. After preschool, our Young Scholars program sustains positive family dynamics and learning opportunities for kindergarten and beyond so that participating students and their families have the tools and resources to become the drivers of their own success and leaders in their extended communities. Throughout the years, our parent leadership education and holistic family support systems help parents confidently and successfully embrace their role as their child’s first teacher, most influential role model and best advocate. Located in San Mateo County, Family Connections has been supporting Peninsula families since 1993. We currently operate in East Menlo Park and Redwood City, serving approximately 600 individuals per year.

We believe that everyone, regardless of background, income, or education, should have access to broad social cultural, and educational opportunities that empower and enrich lives. This is what makes us unique, and why, for 80 years, we endure as a vital cultural asset. We are a private, non-profit, neighborhood-based organization that serves the whole person and the entire community, focusing on needs, as well as interests. We serve as a unique community hub for the multi-generational, multi-cultural & mixed income population in Linda Vista and neighboring communities. We are visited by more than 300 people daily. We open doors of opportunity and improve the quality of life in our community with affordable health and wellness programs, access to education and cultural arts, and social services, and community advocacy. Through these activities we foster a vibrant, empowered community and promotes dignity, independence, and fellowship. While many non-profits have a niche mission (i.e., homelessness, abuse, hunger,etc.) We serve the community with an arc of services and programs that transcend age, ethnicity, narrow need, and socio-economic boundaries. We offer a continuum of services focused on self-sufficiency, integration, and independence for immigrants and native-born residents. We provide each person and family with the practical and personal tools they need to reach their full potential and lead healthy and productive lives.
