PWS' core technology is the patented TAMDAR (Tropospheric Airborne Meteorological Data Reporting) sensor, a mechanism designed to collect highly sophisticated weather data from the atmosphere during the flight of an aircraft. The TAMDAR sensor is currently installed across a network of hundreds of commercial aircraft operated by over a dozen partner airlines and collects thousands of highly-detailed and accurate readings from the upper atmosphere each day. These observations are streamed back in real time via satellite to PWS' operations center, where they pass through stringent quality controls and are assimilated into specialized, four dimensional atmospheric models running on high-speed computing clusters. The output of this process is highly accurate weather forecast information, which is delivered to our clients through a sophisticated suite of management tools and analysis and display applications. Through customizable solutions designed to maximize the benefit and usability of the proprietary TAMDAR data set, PWS' clients are able to make better operational decisions and minimize weather-related risk to their businesses.
