Founded in 1972, Pablo Casals Foundation serves the legacy of one of the greates cellists of all time: Pau Casals i Defilló, born in 1876 in "El Vendrell' of Catalonia, Spain. The foundation carries the cultural, social and educational responsibility of preserving, presenting and promoting the rich music heritage left by the Catalan artist throughout his life, by sharing the knowledge, the wisdom, the values, the principles and the life aspirations of Pablo Casals with the world. Close to the society, next to the young generation and hand in hand with Catatalan, Spanish, European and international cultural, educational and social organisations and institutions, Pablo Casals Foundation focuses on innovation, sustainability and open collaboration in order to achieve further cultural and social development by bringing the musicians worldwide, the international society and the travellers and guests closer to the territory of Catalonia, its world famous artists and its local community. The activity of Pablo Casals Foundation is a proactive act that calls for engagement and participation: The foundation seeks to promote essential change in arts, education and society through the cultivation of critical thinking via music - a way of thinking that embodies the intellectual empathy with the integrity and responsibility that carries the artist and this is exactly our purpose: Teach the public about Pablo Casals' life mission that he faithfully served with his cello throughout his entire life.
