Oxspring is a growing village community nestling in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. We are a small, friendly and vibrant primary school set in a beautiful semi-rural location within close travelling distance of Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester. The M1 motorway is only 10 minutes away and the Peak District is 5 minutes away from our playground! Originally built in 1880, the school underwent extensive refurbishment several years ago and comprises a large school hall, a modern Key Stage 1 block with an outdoor learning area, as well as an on-site and highly popular out of school club. We are very proud of our beautiful school garden which recently achieved its fourth gold award from the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Yorkshire in Bloom', as well as the best in category overall winner. Our school is a true village school and takes its community responsibilities very seriously. As a school, we have a strong commitment to both academic standards and the development of the whole child. We have an 'open door' policy towards parents, and pupils are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school and local community. Throughout the year, our school participates in a wide range of community events including sports, choir visits to the local Church and the Penistone community, musical performances, Harvest festival, Christmas events and the annual Oxspring Duck Race in Bower Dell to name but a few! We are very strongly supported by an incredible and enthusiastic PTA who raise an unbelievable amount of money to support our developments for every child.
