Oxford Hackspace is a community workshop in the centre of Oxford. Such a thing is increasingly called a "makerspace". We exist to provide people who want to make things, learn new skills, have a place to work on their own projects or even just enjoy the community atmosphere with the tools and community to help them do so. At present our popular flagship tools are the A0-size laser cutter, several 3d printers, and a CNC mill, however we have a wide range of smaller tools as well that are generally available for members to use, including sewing machines and woodworking tools. As well as providing space, tools and support, Oxford Hackspace is unusual for a makerspace in also providing a paid technician-supported prototyping service, to help people make their devices and objects using the tools we have available. This business side is particularly helpful to entrepeneurs but it is used by all sorts of people, especially for 3d printing and laser cutting. There are a broad range of activities, tools and supplies. We offer electronics, textiles, woodwork, software, 3d printing, laser cutting, CAD and many other things. The facility is targetted at a broad range of people at different levels of skill, interest and professionalism, from occasional hobbyists and crafters to helping technology entrepeneurs with their groundbreaking projects. We also host events and workshops (often hosted by our members) to share expertise and allow members and guests to learn new skills.
