Outta the Cage Information

Outta the Cage is an L.A.-based rescue creating new futures for at-risk shelter dogs so they can live their best lives. Outta the Cage began when a group of technology professionals started volunteering at California’s high-kill shelters. Our grassroots efforts and background in data analytics taught us successful tactics for getting these animals adopted. We put special focus on “at-risk” dogs, including seniors, long term stay, and medical cases. These dogs are often overlooked by potential adopters but, through targeted networking, promotion and training, they can become wonderful companions. Outta the Cage was started by Jill Dyché. As a lifelong dog rescuer, Jill knows that dogs rarely show their best selves in a chaotic shelter environment. Jill and her team visit shelters and get to know the dogs. We network them in their communities and on social media, where many of the posts go viral. As a former strategy consultant and the author of four books, Jill understands that finding homes for shelter dogs is a mixture of marketing, storytelling, and a little bit of magic. Outta the Cage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 81-2662285) and all U.S. donations are tax deductible. Our team is comprised solely of volunteers, and donations never go to pay salaries.
