Ottawa Dragon Boat Information

Ottawa Dragon Boat is made up of three components. The Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is a not for profit event founded in 1993 hosting it’s first festival in 1994. The festival is a multi-day celebration of the arts, sports, culture and heritage and is North America's largest dragon boating event with over 200 teams in corporate, community and competitive categories. The festival offers free admission to concerts, a family fun zone, non-stop racing and so much more. www.dragonboat.net The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation (ODBF) was established in 2003. ODBF raises funds for local charitable initiatives and to-date has raised over $4.3 million in support of 48 charities. www.odbf.ca The Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival began in 2017 as a way to recognize Canada's 150th celebration, strengthen relations between Canada and China and honour the relationship between the two Nations' capitals and sister cities, Ottawa and Beijing. Both the Badaling section of the Great Wall and the Rideau Canal, where the Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival is held, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The inaugural edition of the festival was the first of its kind in North America and immediately claimed the title of the world's largest ice dragon boat festival with 60 teams participating.
