Established in 1975, the University of São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSUSP) has evolved over more than four decades into a beacon of artistic excellence and cultural enrichment. Throughout its journey, the orchestra has undertaken national and international tours, released eight albums, organized composition contests, collaborated on opera productions, and engaged with acclaimed conductors and soloists, both national and international. In 2006, OSUSP had the honor of receiving the Carlos Gomes Award for Best Orchestra of the Year, a testament to its unwavering commitment to musical excellence. The orchestra's annual concert season encompasses performances in various venues across the diverse campuses of the University of São Paulo, fostering connections with both the academic community and society at large. As an integral part of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Culture and University Extension, OSUSP is dedicated to promoting symphonic and chamber music, fostering innovative educational and artistic initiatives, cultivating audiences, and, above all, facilitating a dynamic link between the knowledge generated by the University of São Paulo and the surrounding community.
