How do I apply for a grant?Charitable organizations can apply to the Osprey Community Foundation for grants to support new or existing programs, capital projects, research, public awareness projects and/or innovation. Using an established application process and the knowledge of the foundation's board of directors, grants are made to worthwhile causes in Nelson and area in a fair and effective manner. How do you work with other agencies, foundations and organizations in the area? The Osprey Community Foundation is committed to working with other agencies, foundations and organizations to increase the level of charitable giving in Nelson and area. Instead of carving up the pie into smaller pieces, these cooperative efforts will increase the size of the pie. Everyone benefits by increasing the awareness of options for charitable giving in our community. We are modeled after and advised by the Vancouver Foundation, Canada's largest community foundation, with assets of more than $500 million. We encourage agencies, foundations & organizations with existing endowments to pool them with the Osprey Community Foundation where, because of pooling in higher yielding Vancouver Foundation funds, the returns may be larger. Who makes up the Osprey Community Foundation? The foundation is run by a volunteer board of directors-a broad-based group of community-minded individuals who bring diverse experience and background to the table. You can meet them here. We also draw on the wisdom and expertise of those on our Advisory Committee. Others in the community support the Osprey Community Foundation by becoming members. Where is the endowed money invested? We invest our capital with the Vancouver Foundation, Canada's largest community foundation, with assets of more than $600 million. All new donations go into the Vancouver Foundation's Socially Responsible Investment fund. What type of legal entity is the Osprey Community Foundation?
