Founded in 1999, Orblynx was the pioneer in content distribution network services for faster, global Internet over satellites. Orblynx provided content distribution technologies for the Internet, which decreases bandwidth use and improves performance. Orblynx had developed a commercial service platform, IDS2000, which was deployed worldwide. IDS2000 worked on the principle of moving content to the edge of the network. It was comprised of two data gathering stations, the IDS Warehouse and the IDS Server. Each Warehouse, located strategically at key Internet exchanged points or major web hosting facilities, served a community of IDS Servers, located at ISPs, or corporate intranets, that in turn served end user subscribers with common interest and similar web usage patterns. Orblynx was headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia. As of August 1, 2001, Orblynx, Inc. was dissolved by the board. Its intellectual properties were acquired by A&T systems.
