OptiPour™ is a smart self-serve wine and champagne scale system invented and founded by Charles Baratta to give hospitality venues precise, real-time control over every ounce poured while significantly enhancing the guest experience. With OptiPour™, guests who order wine by the glass can enjoy the bottle at their table for the duration of their meal and pour at their own pace. This creates a more elevated, relaxed, and interactive dining experience, while giving operators complete accuracy over every ounce poured. From concept through commercialization, I led the invention, engineering direction, branding, and market strategy of the OptiPour™ platform, focusing on precision, scalability, customer enjoyment, and seamless POS integration. Highlights include: • Invented and developed a patented smart-scale system that tracks every pour to the ounce, eliminating overpouring, reducing shrinkage, and enabling perfectly measured self-service wine without compromising revenue. • Enhanced guest experience by allowing wine-by-the-glass customers to keep the bottle tableside, creating a premium, hands-on service model that feels luxurious while staying operationally controlled. • Integrated OptiPour™ with major POS systems for automatic inventory reconciliation and improved service consistency. • Built a full hardware and software ecosystem using IoT technology, cloud analytics, and an intuitive interface for both staff and self-serve environments. • Collaborated with pilot venues across New York and key markets to refine accuracy, improve user experience, and validate increases in guest satisfaction and profitability. • Developed the complete go-to-market strategy including branding, pricing, early-adopter programs, and distribution partnerships. • Positioned OptiPour™ as a dual-value solution that elevates the guest experience while helping operators increase margins through reduced waste and consistent pours.
