OpenSpace International Information

OpenSpace International is an NGO concept created by Stirling Forbes, CEO of Forbes-Space, following our win at the Saudi Space Agency's DebriSolver Competition in January 2026. The OpenSpace objective is to become the market maker for space debris removal - a global NGO initiative to build the framework for a profitable ecosystem for space debris removal. Through a comprehensive programme of activities in the first year, OpenSpace International aims to create the foundation for a robust and impactful NGO that will set the path for a strong commercial ecosystem to support active space debris removal and the promotion of sustainable practices within the space industry. We focus on creating a space sustainability ecosystem by establishing a source of consistent and reliable funding for space debris removal missions alongside a variety of market making solutions to combat this problem through action. Through our award-winning Operator Impact Assessment Platform - developed as part of the DebriSolver Competition - we have demonstrated how economic transparency can transform space debris from an abstract sustainability challenge into quantifiable business decisions. Our platform integrates conjunction analysis with financial modelling, enabling satellite operators, insurers, and policymakers to evaluate debris remediation using decision-grade economics. The creation of a viable market for space removal services will promote innovative solutions for space debris removal and drive down costs through competition for winning debris removal contracts. Funds will also be directed to investment in start-ups developing innovative solutions and fund international competitions for R&D grants.
