OpenGen is an international alliance of developers, genealogists, software vendors and others collaborating to develop genealogy data standards. Our mission is to maximize genealogy collaboration and preservation through standards. We have a file format for data exchange and archiving along with associated open source tools for parsing, creating and translating files. Work will begin on standardizing data elements such as names and locations. Real-time data will be facilitated through a common API.
