OpenCuro is a patent-pending payment system that lets users make and receive payments without giving up any personally identifying information. It's just like cash in that you can make a payment, without giving the payee your credit card number, banking information, home address, email etc. A payment is just a payment; nothing more. They way it works is OpenCuro users request what is called a "CuroCode." A CuroCode is a randomly generated set of characters, which represents the value you want and has an expiration that you request. Just give this code to the person you are paying, and you are done. Requesting a CuroCode is like going to the ATM, except with OpenCuro, the ATM is any web-enabled device, like your laptop, PDA or iPhone, and you always get exactly the amount you need. Buyers like OpenCuro because it eliminates the possibility of duplicate or unauthorized charges (since CuroCodes are one-time-use only). Also, since CuroCodes contain no personally identifying information, you are protected even if a business you've paid has a security breach -- so no need to worry, cancel accounts, or order credit reports. Sellers like OpenCuro because it eliminates chargebacks, holds and reversals for "unauthorized" or "unrecognized" payments because OpenCuro authenticates payments within its system. OpenCuro can be used to send money to friends and family, or it can be used to pay businesses or online merchants.
