Open summer of code is a 4-week summer programme in July, that provides Belgian based students with the training, network and support necessary to transform open innovation projects into powerful real-world services. From building tourism applications on Android using open ‘augmented reality engines’ to hypermedia driven transport solutions, we encourage a setting in which policymakers, companies and civic technologists intersect, collaborate and start prototyping the future. This project started in 2011 as "iRail Summer of code": we had six students coming together to boost cross-pollination and profit from the benefits of coworking. In 2018, during the 8th edition, 70+ students worked on 17 open innovation projects!
