Only Kindness, Inc., dba Community Resource Center, has been serving the homeless and at risk of homelessness population of El Dorado county for a number of years. Since July of 2014, in collaboration with Veterans organizations, a separate Veterans fund has been established. In addition to helping Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, the following services are being provided:Liaison with the Veterans courtWorking with Veterans in jailHelping county departments serve at risk veteransProviding transportation, bus passes, assistance with DMV, gas cardsBuying food and mealsPostage and shipping for documents and applicationsWorking with the Mather homeless primary clinicWorking with the Veterans commissionThis is a partial list. In the first year, 75 veterans were served, with at least 50 having housing issues. It is our goal to keep growing until every Veteran who is homeless, in jail, in the court system, hungry, alone or hurting can be reached, and pulled to safety.
