At Online Hearing Care we are dedicated to improving people’s lives through better hearing.  We want people to understand that hearing loss should be taken seriously and, if addressed early, can be treated very successfully. Around 1 in 6 of the UK population – over 10 million adults – suffer from hearing loss of some kind and, as our population ages, that number is likely to increase.   Several research papers, most notably by Frank Lin at Johns Hopkins, have made the connection between hearing loss and dementia.  In a study that tracked 639 adults for nearly 12 years, Lin and his colleagues found that mild hearing loss doubled dementia risk. Moderate loss tripled risk, and people with a severe hearing impairment were five times more likely to develop dementia. The good news is that hearing loss is almost always treatable. Today’s hearing aids are discreet, easily adjustable and amazingly effective - more akin to a smart device than the common perception of hearing aids.  The best hearing aids can adapt automatically to multiple social settings: restaurants, football matches, windy walks on the beach, places of worship - even as most of us are right now stuck at home watching the TV.   At Online Hearing Care we've developed a kit to assess your hearing to audiology clinical standards, in the comfort of your own home.  Patients will be assessed and supported throughout by qualified audiologists and hearing aids can be calibrated to fit your hearing profile exactly.  We are currently the only hearing care provider in the world to offer this service.
