OneWorkSource also offers follow-up services designed to help retain new employees. These free services include Employee Assistance Programs, on-going "job readiness" workshops and other support services. In addition to employee recruitment and training, OneWorkSource is a one-stop source for vital employment information, including information about compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA), unemployment insurance, information about the labor market and more. Among other training programs, OneWorkSource offers "on-the-job" training with incentives for employers who are willing to re-train qualified employees. Through this program, OneWorkSource assists employers in receiving funding that covers part of the new employee's wage during the re-training period. OneWorkSource also works directly with employers to arrange, and frequently fund, training of existing employees to meet the new skills needed to remain competitive in the marketplace. What makes OneWorkSource unlike other employment centers is that its mission is focused on building the workforce of tomorrow by closing the gap between the skills businesses require and the skills available in the marketplace. To do that, OneWorkSource works closely with business and vocational/educational partners to design training programs that will fill potential employment needs. Qualified job seekers in need of retraining may take advantage of paid learning opportunities at area vocational schools and educational institutions. For those interested in developing computer skills, the OneWorkSource Center in Franklin County also offers mini-courses in popular business computer programs such as Excel and Word. A lab instructor is available to assist job seekers as they work at their own pace. Job seekers may also use one of the 12 workstations to create or update their resumes or to check out job listings.
