Cancer is the #1 cause of death in dogs over 2 years of age. While there have been many breakthroughs in human cancer therapies, they are rarely translated to our canine friends. OneUP BIO aims to develop canine specific drugs to help fight cancer, giving veterinarians more tools to help dogs live longer, happier lives. OneUP BIO is developing biological therapeutic proteins already proven to treat health conditions in humans to be effective in canines. The sequences of proteins are species specific, meaning that an effective human biologic drug won't necessarily be useful for our animal friends. We develop protein biologics for canine companions. Even if you don’t have or love dogs, developing treatments for canine cancer may still affect you one day. It was the Nobel prize winning studies in the canine model that eventually led to the first successful bone marrow transplants in humans, a transformative cure for blood cancer. More will follow!
