The team was founded in late 2013 by Jeff Shafer. The team is a culmination of a lifelong obsession with motor racing. Shafer's driving experience began in karts at the age of 12. By the time he was 18 he had won 4 National Titles and 5 IKF Championships. During this time he began working for Pitts Performance, one of the top karting teams in the US. He developed a fondness for the technical side of the sport and was eventually employed full time by the company, becoming the lead two stroke engine builder. Jeff's first auto racing competition came at the Elf Winfield School based at Circuit Paul Ricard, France. Out of several hundred drivers he won the top American driver spot and second overall, earning him season sponsorship in the 1996 Skip Barber Racing Series. He achieved ten wins and went on to win the Barber Dodge Runoffs at Sebring International Raceway. The Team Green Academy, which was aimed at finding the best up and coming American drivers, took notice of Jeff's accomplishments and he was selected to compete along with twenty five other prospects for the top spot. He won the competition overall and earned a fully sponsored season in the 1997 FF2000 series. IMSA champion , and longtime Bob Bondurant instructor, Bob Earl took Jeff under his wing for the season and he finished with two pole positions, three wins and seven top ten finishes. Part of Team Green's development package was designed to teach the many aspects of professional Motorsports. Jeff was relocated to the team base in Indianapolis and was employed by Nemesis race cars. In charge of maintaining his own car, in addition to customer cars, he became familiar with race car fabrication, maintenance, welding, chassis set up and the high standards that a professional race team require. In 1998 Jeff relocated to Las Vegas where he was employed at the Derek Daly Academy as an instructor. During this time he ran several Formula Atlantic races with Arciero Wells Racing. That same year Jeff and co-driver Ross Bentley drove a GT3 BMW to a second place finish at Petit Le Mans. In 1999 Jerry Forsythe, owner of the Indeck ChampCar Team, sponsored Jeff for the UK based Formula Palmer Audi series. He finished 12th overall in the points. Shafer returned to the US where The Derek Daily Acadamy promoted him to lead instructor and general manager. On race weekends he worked for Team Bucknam Racing as a driver coach/trackside engineer and contributed to Brian Selby's 2000 Formula Mazda Championship. In 2007 Shafer started Radical Ventures, which focused on the maintenance, trackside support, coaching and transport of Radical race cars. The company also organized and ran a very successful Radical Race series that traveled to some our country's most well known circuits. In 2010 Shafer started working closely with Factory48 Motorsports. Over the next 3 years his coaching and technical skills helped the team win 5 SCCA divisional titles, a 2nd in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship, 3 ESR 1st place finishes at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and an SCCA National Championship in CSR. the Goal..
