In 1997, we opened our first franchise in Tallahassee, Florida to give our customers a place to sit and relax while enjoying our fruit smoothies. By 1999, we added a wide range of wholesome food options to our menu that perfectly complemented our smoothies. One year later, we officially established the Tropical Smoothie Cafe name. In 2007, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary and started our own holiday, National Flip Flop Day. On National Flip Flop Day, we raise funds to benefit Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry Campaign and customers who visit our Cafes wearing flip flops between 2pm - 7pm receive a FREE smoothie. It's a great day to bring on the sunshine in the lives of children who are facing childhood hunger. Today, we have over 1,350 franchise locations in more than 44 states and customers continue to fall in love with Tropical Smoothie Cafe as a destination for flavor. Our story begins in 1915 in Grant, Michigan where the Bolthouse family started farming vegetables. When William Herman Bolthouse took over the farm from his parents in 1938, he expanded and focused on the production and distribution of carrots. By 1950, Bolthouse Farms was a leading carrot supplier in the Midwest known for flavor and quality. In 1973, a second facility in Bakersfield, California was opened where year-round production was possible allowing broader distribution. In the 1990s, Bolthouse Farms brought a breakthrough product to the marketplace. Frustrated with the waste in the carrot business, a local Bolthouse Farms grower peeled and cut “ugly” carrots into pieces and sold them in bags. With that simple act, baby carrots were born, transforming the entire industry. Baby carrots seemed to make Americans eat more carrots, helping to double carrot consumption in the U.S. in the decade after they were introduced. For more than a century, Bolthouse Farms has been known as the innovation leader in growing and distributing carrots and high-quality, innovative branded products. Employing more than 2,200 people and still headquartered in Bakersfield in California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley, Bolthouse Farms is one of the largest carrot growers and distributors in the U.S. Guided by our vision – Plants Powering People – we produce and sell super-premium juices, smoothies, café beverages, protein shakes, functional beverages and premium refrigerated dressings all under the Bolthouse Farms® brand name.

innocent started with a simple mission: to make drinks that make it easy to do yourself some good. In 1999 we concocted a few smoothies in our kitchen and tested them on people at a music festival; today we’re blending every type of fruit & veg under the sun and selling drinks right across Europe in over 30 different countries. Our range has got bigger along with us, and we now sell juice, kids drinks, coconut water and bubbles (a healthy drink in a can) with loads more innovation to come. We have great ambitions: to show the world that you can build a successful business that cares about more than just profit, and to leave things better than we find them. We’re proud to call ourselves Europe’s favourite little healthy drinks company, but we’re still growing. And that means we need more brilliant people who share our ambition, to join in with the next, most exciting, part of our story.
