Old Mill Center for Children & Families is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing a range of high impact services addressing the social, emotional, and educational needs of at-risk children and families throughout Benton County, Oregon. Thirty-four years ago Bev Larson, Ph.D., had a dream to help children with physical disabilities and emotional challenges learn how to survive and thrive in the world. She opened a preschool integrating mainstream and special needs kids based on the conviction that bringing these diverse children together created a unique foundation for learning while developing such core values as acceptance, compassion and understanding. Now recognized as a pioneer in special needs service delivery, Bev was one of the first people in the nation to use this bold approach with children. Over the years Old Mill has added numerous other services, all of which share the same primary goal of helping children at-risk for developmental delay or derailment, While Bev was the only Executive Director Old Mill Center knew for over 33 years, she turned the reins of leadership over to Steve Golston, Ph.D., MBA, in Aug 2010. Bev has since dedicated her time since to ensuring the long-term financial stability of Old Mill. Steve is a licensed psychologist with a background in education who has worked in a diverse set of education and nonprofit settings. He hopes to facilitate another long stretch of success in realizing the mission of Old Mill Center for Children & Families.
