The O.C.O Group are global pioneers in the permanent capture of CO₂. Built on more than 20 years of award-winning research, O.C.O’s Accelerated Carbonation Technology (ACT) uses carbon dioxide gas as a resource to treat and valorise industrial waste residues, including Air Pollution Control residues (APCr), generated during the combustion process at Energy for Waste (EfW) plants. The ACT process transforms the thermal residues into a sustainable aggregate known as Manufactured Limestone (M LS). Because more CO₂ is permanently captured than is used in the manufacturing process, M LS is recognised as a carbon negative aggregate but sold to the construction market as carbon-neutral. A proportion of its neutrality is offset to generate O.C.O’s world-leading carbon mineralisation removal credits. These credits are sold and retired by businesses who wish to reduce their carbon footprints and support their wider sustainability strategies With a current turnover of around £50 million, O.C.O has UK operations in Norfolk, Leeds and Avonmouth, alongside a partnership operation in Spain and Australia and has licensed its technology in Japan. The company is expanding into wider markets worldwide, with a strong focus on permanent CO₂ capture and supporting organisations as they work to offset their carbon emissions.
