Oceanic Ventures, Inc. opened its doors in 1990 with one thing in mind — offering professional scuba diving instruction, travel, equipment sales & repairs with exceptional client service. It has been our goal to be the leading full-service retailer in the Houston area specializing in small classes and personal service. We also like to say that if it is taught in scuba, we teach it! ™
Oceanic Ventures, Inc. is the premiere dive operation in Texas. As the first full Service IANTD Technical Training Facility in Texas, we were the first Nitrox Training facility, and the first Nitrox and Trimix Blending facility in the area. We remain the only IANTD Platinum Technical Training Facility in Texas and were awarded a Diamond Facility award by IANTD. We are also an SSI Platinum Instructor Training Facility, a NASDS Gold Dealer, and a Technical Diving International Platinum Training Facility. Oceanic Ventures is the only facility in the area with fully closed and semi-closed Rebreather Instructors on staff. Our staff remains the most qualified instructional staff in the industry with most of our instructors and dive coordinators having advanced certifications in Cavern, Cave, Wreck, Technical and Trimix diving.
The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) is a multilateral partnership of six countries working together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change and marine biodiversity.
It is the first multilateral cooperation of its kind, one that focuses on food security through sustainable management of marine natural resources taking into consideration climate change impacts. The CTI-CFF is formed in 2009 and members include the governments of Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste (the ‘CT6’) representing the custodians of the Coral Triangle area.
They adopted the CTI Regional Plan of Action (CTI RPOA) which is a strategic action plan with five goals: (1) designation of effectively managed seascapes; (2) application of an ecosystem approach to fisheries management; (3) establishment of a fully functional marine protected area system; (4) strengthening climate change adaptation and resilience; and (5) improving the status of threatened marine species.
