OBI Medical was founded in 2002 by a group of leading scientists, researchers and clinicians from Aalborg University Hospital and from the Center for Model-based Medical Decision Support at Aalborg University. The group has developed a method for converting peripheral venous acid-base and blood gas values to arterial values (The v-TAC Software). The v-TAC Software may reduce the cost of care and the pain associated with assessment of acid-base and oxygenation status, maximize the information obtained from peripheral venous blood and allow venous measurements to be presented as more commonly interpreted arterial values.
