Ober Mountain Information

Ober Mountain is the premier Ski and Snowboard Area in Tennessee and Mountain Playground in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Near Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Ober has remained a destination for families since 1962 (as the Gatlinburg Ski Resort) and 1973 as Ober Gatlinburg. The Tramway opened to the public on August 5th, 1973, and was designed, engineered, and constructed by CWA Constructions in Olten, Switzerland, the largest Manufacturer of ropeway cabins and gondolas in the world. Ober’s Aerial Tramway is one of 17 functioning Aerial Tramways in the United States. Ober Mountain continues to be a favored year-round destination.
