Oakey Veterinary Hospital Information

For nearly sixty years, the veterinarians at Oakey Veterinary Hospital have been dedicated to the health and well-being of the horses, cattle and small animals placed under their care. Along the way, OVH established a reputation that is recognised throughout the world as a high quality centre of excellence. The hospital was founded in 1952 by world renowned equine surgeon and dermatologist, Dr Reg Pascoe. It was his vision and determination that created a veterinary hospital known for it's veterinary specialists, their wealth of experience and commitment to care. The current site opened its doors in 1960 and the hospital has continued to grow and evolve ever since. The latest addition to OVH is the new Specialist Equine Reproduction Centre, which has been developed to service the high level of demand for specialized breeding technologies such as embryo transfer, chilled and frozen semen, stallion infertility and problem breeders. The Centre will also offer a new stallion station for clients. The Hospital, which is located at Oakey, near Toowoomba on the Darling Downs in Queensland, offers a wide range of services including surgery, internal medicine, advanced diagnostic imaging, radiography (x-ray), full lameness diagnosis and treatment. As well as the new Specialized Reproduction Centre, the hospital also provides a general on-farm reproduction service, a full racetrack veterinary service, a 24 hour emergency service as well as on-farm medical care and treatment. OVH currently has 8 veterinarians, a dedicated support staff of 16 and a weekly master farrier service. It averages over 1500 admissions to the equine hospital with around 500 major surgeries, 250 minor surgeries and over 200 specialist cases. The reputation of OVH comes from a long and proud history of nearly sixty years of service and commitment to our patients, our clients and our local community.
