The NWPIC is a non-profit organization created in 1983 to administer job training activities under the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). The NWPIC serves as the administrative entity, program provider and grant recipient for the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) in partnership with a Local Elected Officials (LEO) Board. The NWPIC represents a partnership of business and government to serve the region's workforce development needs. The NWPIC serves the residents of Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau Counties. The NWPIC administers over $1.4 million in Federal and State job training funding. The NWPIC has an 18 member governing council representing the private sector, education, public assistance agencies, organized labor, rehabilitation agencies, community based organizations, economic development, and the public employment service.
