Vereniging NVMP is in 1999 opgericht en vertegenwoordigt 1.500 producenten en importeurs van elektrische apparaten en energiezuinige verlichtingsapparatuur in Nederland. NVMP zet zich namens hen in voor het inzamelen en hoogwaardig recyclen van afgedankte elektr(on)ische apparatuur en energiebesparende lampen ('e-waste'). Zij streeft ernaar meer materialen te herwinnen voor gebruik in nieuwe producten en om te vermijden dat toxische materialen in het milieu terechtkomen. De uitvoering van inzameling en recycling is ondergebracht bij Wecycle die, net als Vereniging NVMP, geen winstoogmerk heeft.
