NuSpeed was founded by Mark Cree (CEO) and Clint Jurgens (CTO) and began operations on January 3, 2000. NuSpeed developed the first commercial storage-over-IP product using the then Nascent IETF standard for transporting SCSI storage block commands over TCP/IP between a storage initiator and target - now know as iSCSI. The company entered into an agreement to be acquired by Cisco Systems on July 27, 2000 for $450 Million and became Cisco's Storage Router Business Unit.
