Founded on 5 May 1949 by 10 countries, the Council of Europe seeks to develop throughout Europe common and democratic principles based on the European Convention on Human Rights and other reference texts on the protection of individuals. Finnish Red Cross is the one of the largest civic organizations in Finland. Our objective is to help those who need it most both in Finland and abroad. Red Cross helps when a catastrophe or an accident occurs and trains people to be prepared. The organization encourages people to look after their own well-being and to take care of each other. Finnish Red Cross (FRC) is a part of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which is one of the biggest and well-known international organization in the world on the field of humanitarian aid. The organizational structure has three layers: local branches, districts, and the national headquarter. There are 12 districts and 389 local branches around Finland.
